At Valley Community Church, we value connection and content. Every environment that we create is built around these two concepts. We desire to see people connect with the Lord and with others in the true spirit which God desires and displays in His Word. God has given us a mission or direction to move in. He has supplied us with guard rails so we may stay true to His mission, which we call values. He has given us a beautiful picture of His preferred future or what we call vision. He has also given us unifying principles to guide the lives of all who become His children and we call this our beliefs.
We recognize values as guardrails that God has provided us that we may stay on the mission He has given us as a church.
I respond to the call of Jesus by intentionally choosing to Commit my life to Him, Follow His example and Obey His commands by faith, that I might be Holy as He is holy.
(Proverbs 16:3) We commit to Jesus when we recognize He is who He says He is and He will do what He says He will do. Commitment typically follows a time of relational investigation and in some cases finding a reliance that you did not previously know existed. God desires for His children to be completely committed to Him as our heavenly Father. We may not know everything at this time but we commit to learning more and knowing that God has our best at heart.
(Mark 8:34) To commit is to step out and to step out is to choose a path. Jesus tells us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6). He is worthy to be followed. To follow is to believe and act on that which God has called us corporately and individually.
(John 14:21) Jesus reminds us that we are to be doers of the Word not just hearers (James 1:22-25). Do we truly love God and can we truly follow someone that we are not willing to obey?
(Romans 12:1) To be holy is to be set apart. When we follow Jesus He will set us apart from who we used to be and walk us into a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Jesus desires for us to be like Him and to follow Him will grant us the benefits that are already bestowed upon Him.
It is the act of Receiving and Trusting all that God is for us in Christ, Remaining in fellowship with Him, allowing the Word to Shape and Sanctify us for the glory of the Lord.
(John 3:16) it is easy to receive things that you see immediate value in but what about those things that you may never see the value? What if the value you receive is not even for your benefit but for the benefit of others? This is abiding love. When we receive all God has for us even when it may not feel right in the moment.
(Proverbs 3:5-8) Trust extends to our action not simply our mental recognition. When we say you trust it is once again moving forward when things do not make since or go against what seems so natural to us. We need to remember that most things feel natural because we have a sinful nature and that nature guides us to death where God’s direction is to life and love. When we trust Him we allow His love to flow through us.
(John 15:5) Any time we make changes in our life there is a lag and in some cases a level of pain. When we seek to get healthy, there is points that we are seemingly hurting ourselves so that we can get better. When we remain in Jesus there will certainly be moments of discomfort and pain, yet we need to remain in Him knowing that He loves us and only wants what is best for us. He even reminds us in His Word to count trials and tribulation as joy (James 1:2-4). When we remain in God He will mold us and make us more like His Son.
(Jeremiah 18:6) When you follow Jesus and remain in His loving hands you will not be the same! You cannot remain in the presence of God, obey His Word, follow His will without becoming a different person, the person He designed you to be. We need to be willing to allow God to shape us through the relationship He provides.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17) To be sanctified is to become more like Christ. The Bible contains everything we need to reach complete maturity in Christ. To be sanctified means we think different and we act differently. Our thoughts and our actions, at this point, are for the honor and glory of God rather than for our selfish ambition.
Is to Experience and Express love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, by following the will of the Father, abiding in the presence of the Son and Bearing out the love of the Holy Spirit.
(Galatians 5:22-23) When we follow and abide (remain in the Lord) we will know the love and life that only God can provide. The Holy Spirit empowered by the Word of God creates opportunities for us to daily know that God is real and loves us deeply.
(James 2:14-17) We need to know that our deeds are not an effort to receive salvation from the Lord. In other words, you do not have to do good things to earn God’s love. When Christ died on the cross, He paid it all and His love is complete and His complete love is given to us as His children. Now, we do need to share the love God gives us as a reflection of the love He has so freely given us. When we serve we are serving out of the overflow of the love that has already been given rather than in an effort to earn God’s love.
(Colossians 1:10) When we follow and abide in Christ the byproduct is a life that will bear out the love of God for the honor of God. Our lives are the recognition of a life driven by the love of God or by our desire for self-ambition. Once again, our life should reflect the love of Christ by the love of the Father, the sacrifice of the Son and the Guiding love of the Holy Spirit empowered by the Word of God.
We recognize values as guardrails that God has provided us that we may stay on the mission He has given us as a church.
(John 3:16-18) Simply put we are to love all people and point them to the love of God. A “Wide Welcome” means a call to connect to God. “Narrow Path” means we connect to God’s love by how He defines love within the content of His Word. God’s Word is the ultimate authority for the life of the believer.
(Matthew 5:41) Normal responses tend to receive normal reactions. God calls us to go the extra mile when we love and serve the people that come to our church, the people we engage with in our social circles and the people we encounter in our communities, nation and world. God’s love for us is extraordinary and He calls us as believers to live a life that expresses the extraordinary nature of God’s love for us.”
(Matthew 5:43-48) To be intentional means we put our intentions into action. Our character is who we are even when no one is looking. God has designed His word and given His Spirit that we may develop this loving character. An intentional loving character is able to love even our enemies because of the love we have been given by the Father, by the sacrifice of the Son and the guidance of the Holy Spirit by the power of His Word.”
(Romans 12:2) We must constantly look into the mirror of God’s Word (James 1:22-25) and be willing to make adjustments. We don’t tend to recognize the natural drift away from the things of God that occurs naturally when we are unwilling to check ourselves. We should live a continuous life from a posture of learning everyday.
We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.
We believe in the Trinity, which is the doctrine that God is one, existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The three persons of the Trinity are distinct and unified, co-existing in perfect harmony and working together to create and sustain the world. We recognize that since God is the Creator and the source of all life, He exists in three persons who are distinct yet united, understanding each other completely and working together to bring about His plans for humanity. We believe that the Trinity is an essential part of understanding God and His purpose for us. By embracing the Trinity, we can have a deeper relationship with the Lord and better understand His will for our lives.
We believe in the divine inspiration of the Bible, that it is the true and inspired word of God. We believe that the Bible is our standard for life, and its truth, integrity, and relevance is of utmost importance. The Bible is not just a book, but a living guide, full of God’s wisdom and guidance. Through scripture, we learn about God’s character, how to live and act, and how to grow in our spiritual journey. We believe that by reading and studying the Bible, we are able to draw closer to God and deepen our understanding of His love.
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He is the central figure of Christianity, the Word of God made flesh. Jesus was sent by God to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins so that we could enjoy an eternal life with Him. Jesus’ teachings on love, forgiveness, humility, and repentance are at the core of our beliefs. We also believe in Jesus’ resurrection, that it was proof of His deity and the promise of eternal life for all those who believe. We are called to follow Jesus, to live lives of holiness, and to share the good news of the gospel. As we learn to love and serve others, we are reminded of Jesus’ example of love and sacrifice.
We believe in salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus was sent by God to save us and give us eternal life. Salvation is only possible through faith in Jesus and repentance of our sins. We understand that we are saved through grace and not by any works of our own. The Bible teaches us that no matter what mistakes we make, God’s love and grace are always available to us. We believe that through accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are able to have the assurance of salvation and the promise of eternal life with God.
We believe in the importance of baptism. Baptism symbolizes a believer's commitment to Jesus and His teachings, and is an outward act of confessing our faith in Him. We believe that baptism is essential to Christian discipleship, and it is a beautiful way to proclaim our allegiance to Jesus. Baptism is a sacred and meaningful experience, and we are deeply committed to helping believers celebrate this important milestone in their journey of faith. By celebrating and honoring baptism, we are proclaiming our faith in Jesus and our desire to serve Him and others.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is the unifying power between God and humanity, and is the source of our comfort, guidance, and strength. The Holy Spirit helps us to understand and appreciate the Bible, and helps us to live out its teachings in our lives. We believe that the Holy Spirit is with us always, faithfully guiding us in our walk with God. We also believe that the Holy Spirit gives us gifts such as wisdom, knowledge, understanding, healing, miracles, tongues, and prophecy so that we can be used to serve God and spread His love.
We believe in the Christian doctrinal belief of The Church. We believe that the Church is a holy assembly of believers, united in faith and love. We strive to be a community of believers who are united in our faith in Jesus Christ and in our commitment to serve Him and His kingdom. We are committed to loving God and loving others, and to be known for our love for one another. We believe that the Church is a body of believers who are called to serve and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to all people. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we seek to be faithful disciples of Jesus and to follow His teachings. We strive to live out our faith through loving actions and service to our community and the world.
We believe in the power of prayer, both individually and corporately, as an expression of faith in God's work in our lives. Prayer is an essential part of a Christian life and is used to talk to God and to communicate with Him. We pray for guidance, strength, healing, protection, and for our families, friends, and community. Through prayer, we seek to deepen our understanding of God's will and His plans for our lives. Praying helps us grow closer to God and to gain a better understanding of His will and how we can best serve Him. When we pray, we open ourselves up to God and He will answer us in His own way and in His own time. Prayer is a beautiful and powerful way to communicate with our Heavenly Father and to seek His love and guidance.
